Primary Responsibilities

  • Assesses individual patients’ art therapy and clinical needs to provide a basis for individual program planning. This is accomplished through analysis of interests, needs and skills.
  • Plans and implements art therapy, clinical and social activities for patients to ensure that Patients' needs are addressed. This is accomplished by directly observing Patients, conducting assessments and reviewing literature to identify effective methods, consulting with other art therapy professionals and designing individual expressive programs.
  • Participates as a team member in planning treatment programs.
  • Designs and writes treatment plan goals when indicated.
  • Reviews expressive therapy plans to ensure that suitable measures have been taken to protect the health and safety of Patients. This is accomplished by keeping informed of health and safety requirements, communicating those requirements to staff assigned to assist in program implementation and correcting deficits in the plans.
  • Assists in the development of goals for the Expressive Therapy Department, specific to art therapy.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Current license and/or certification (or eligible) through national agency for specific profession (music, art, etc.)
  • Proven experience understanding and demonstrated ability to generate revenues for clinical services.
  • Experience with commercial insurance billing.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records Management. Experience and confidence identifying and implementing evidence-based practices.
  • Experience working in crisis setting with individuals and families.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Program development, evaluation, solid organizational skills, and public speaking
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work in and adapt the culture of a multi-cultural, community-based organization.
