The Care Coordinator for Inspiritus Disaster Recovery projects is Inspiritus primary contact and support person for survivors of disaster. This position assists survivors from initial engagement to case completion or closure. This role involves collaborating with community organizations, government agencies, and Long-Term Recovery partners to ensure that disaster survivors receive the necessary assistance to rebuild their lives.

Work may include entering unsafe, unsanitary, unsecure, and non-functional homes. Driving may include traveling in inclement weather. Work may take place in hot, cold, wet, and dry conditions.

Position Details
- Full Time - Nonexempt employee, eligible for benefits
- Department – Disaster Relief
- Reports to Recovery Project Manager
- Assess needs, obtains documents, provides resources, and may supply emotional support to survivors of disasters
- Work in partnership with Long-Term Recovery Groups to mobilize support for repair efforts and contribute to the holistic recovery of survivors.
- Open Location
- Hybrid with local travel required (+/-50% travel)
- Monday through Friday, possibly weekends
- Flexible daily hours, standard is 8 work hours, plus 30 minute lunch per day
- Daily start & end time vary depending on work needs
- General Inspiritus operating hours 8:30AM – 5:00PM
- Annual Compensation: $52,000
Client Support and Case Management
- Is the primary contact with survivors through the phases of the recovery program.
- Nurtures Inspiritus’ mission to help survivors of disaster go from surviving to thriving.
- Works closely with the Recovery Project Manager, Senior Construction Coordinator, and Site Coordinator to address clients' construction related needs in a coordinated and collaborative manner.
- Screens and verifies individual survivor application, ensuring the survivor meets the qualification for Inspiritus assistance.
- Prioritizes client cases and collects all necessary client documents according to the organization's policy and procedures.
- Coordinates and schedules necessary assessments or home visits in collaboration with the Senior Construction Coordinator, as needed.
- Acts with professionalism, confidentiality, personal effectiveness/credibility, time management, flexibility, stress management and composure.
- Works closely with the local Long-Term Recovery Groups, if applicable, to close client funding gaps and minimize duplication of benefits.
- Identify and leverage available resources from government programs, faith-based organizations, and other community services to support recovery efforts.
- Facilitates communication between survivors, the Senior Construction Coordinator, Site Coordinator, contractors and other persons involved in the repair process.
- Completes all Inspiritus derived case management forms.
- Secures clients’ signatures of release, consent, agreement, and completion documents.
- Inputs client information, progress status, and other information into the database.
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Be well organized and able to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent tasks.
- Ability to work with a diverse population, communicate with all persons in a culturally competent manner and adapt to cultural differences.
- Capacity to work effectively with faith and community partners as well as governmental agencies.
- Maintain a positive attitude while completing challenging work.
- Have good written / verbal communication skills.
- Aptitude to operate a computer and smartphone.
- Pass a comprehensive background check, including work references and drivers record check.
- Possess a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and required automobile insurance.
- Care coordinator or case management experience.
- One year of experience working with disaster survivors.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and cultural competency in post-disaster settings.
- Worked or volunteered in disaster settings.
- Bilingual (Especially Spanish/English) is a plus.
- Completion of OSHA 10-hour training certificate, first aid and CPR training.
