QUALIFICATIONS:

A Bachelor’s Degree in social work or criminal justice and two years’ experience working with victims of domestic violence or other crimes preferred. Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred. Group facilitation skills preferred. Understanding of the dynamics of violence and victimization and the issues related to trauma informed service provision preferred. The ability to maintain and build positive working relationships with community service providers including law enforcement, mental health, and protective service personnel is essential. A familiarity with local community resources is required. Strong communication and organizational skills are necessary. Must have comfort in making home visits, own car, a CT drivers license in good standing and agency-required auto insurance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Community outreach to identify, recruit and assess target population of adult victims of crimes including domestic violence, sexual abuse, elder abuse, robbery, assault and hate and bias

2.Plan, prepare and conduct office, home and off-site services including risk assessment and safety planning, crisis intervention, information about the criminal justice process, victims compensation information and assistance, court advocacy and accompaniment and linkage to other needed community services and supports

3.Select, utilize and conduct program-approved curricula in individual and group meetings designed to provide education, information and support to target population

4.Work collaboratively with other service providers

5.Participate in case reviews as required

6.Represent the agency in related neighborhood and community meetings, groups and committees

7.Attend staff, intake evaluation and other agency and program required meetings

8.Complete all record keeping activities as required by the agency and its funding sources

9.Assist in the development and presentation of child and family violence, crime prevention, crime victim populations and family strengthening activity materials

10.Prepare for, attend and actively participate in regularly scheduled individual and group supervisory meetings with the NVA Director

11.Attend educational trainings in related areas

12.Promote the agency’s services, programs, image and philosophy to the public

13.Responsible for managing own time and schedule

14.Perform any other reasonably related duties assigned by the NVA Coordinator

15.Maintain timely, accurate, organized and complete individual case files

16.Maintain strict confidentiality

A successful candidate will be a self-starter with a solutionist attitude. They must have the ability to work on a hybrid schedule and have access to consistent, reliable internet when working from home. Access to reliable transportation is also a job requirement.
