About Job

Under general direction, provides direct resident care support for all residents to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the residents. Oversees development and maintenance of staffing schedules, participates in training programs during and after orientation, supports clinical services department.

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Creates and maintain the clinical staffing schedule system on a daily basis to ensure adequate direct care staff and medication administration staff on each shift
  • Participates in new employee orientation process
  • Oversees Shadow Training program to ensure RCA’s and MSTs are properly trained to perform their specific duties
  • Assist Health Services Director in providing training to current employees; including care skills demonstration and evaluate for skill competency prior to care staff giving care.
  • Assist Health Services Director in providing training to employees who return to work after a worker’s comp claim
  • Provides MST/Lead support in supervision and direction of Resident Care Assistance
  • Maintain all skill competency records for all Medication Services Technicians
  • Monitors resident apartments, dining room, living room, attendant station, bathing rooms and medication rooms ensuring they are clean and orderly
  • Orders, Monitors, and maintains supplies of linens, towels, PPE and other central supply orders materials
  • Monitor incontinence program and orders supplies
  • Supervises resident meals and monitors for appropriate diets
  • May be required to assist with Resident Caregiver work assignments when staffing needs require it
  • Conducts work tasks safely and in compliance with the community safety program
  • Provides effective and courteous service to all residents, guests and co-workers
  • Performs other related essential duties as required

A High School Diploma, vocational/technical training preferred; Have at least one year of direct resident care experience, preferably in a geriatric setting; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.

  • Medication Tech/QMAP/CNA certification
  • First Aid and CPR certification
  • Criminal record clearance or criminal record exemption, as required by law
  • Health evaluation to ensure ability to perform duties of the position and the absence of any communicable disease, including tuberculosis and CXR clearance.
  • Policies, procedures, methods, and practices of the community;
  • Medical terminology;
  • Methods and procedures involved in handling emergency situations;
  • Use of medical supplies and equipment;
  • Medication dispensed to residents;
  • Records, graphs, reports, etc. used in the daily performance of duties;
  • Ability to operate automated office machines including iPod, computer, calculator, telephone, and copier;
  • Ability to operate and use a variety of health care equipment and tools including stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, oxygen, emergency and disaster equipment, etc.;
  • Ability to utilize a variety of clerical, secretarial, medical and computer supplies;
  • Must be physically able to assist residents who have fallen and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects;
  • Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of residents to position or transport them;
  • Ability to perceive and discriminate colors, sounds, textures, odors, and forms.
  • Responsible for making frequent care rounds to monitor good resident cares, provide assistance as needed with cares, and provide education to staff during cares. Motivation and coaching team members
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, calculate decimals and percentages
  • Knowledge of and ability to use the metric system for medications

  • Ability to comprehend a variety of reference books and manuals including PDR, medical books, reports, journals, resident nursing notes, payroll summary and resident review
  • Ability to prepare performance appraisals, weekly reports, resident reviews and other job-related documents using prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style
  • Ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, maintain confidentiality of restricted information, and to follow instructions
  • Ability to use and interpret medical, counseling, marketing, and personnel terminology and language
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents and families, clients, physicians, nurses, staff, resident assistants, supervisor and client representatives verbally and in writing

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
