About Job

Kindred Healthcare is dedicated to Hope, Healing, and Recovery for our patients. We are currently seeking a physician to serve as the Medical Director at Ephraim McDowell Hospital in Danville, Kentucky.

Ephraim McDowell offers both inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services. We deliver compassionate care through individual and group-focused activities. As a result, patients learn more effective tools for living.

The site houses a 16-bed inpatient unit for adult patients, as well as having a seven-bed Geropsychiatric Unit. The unit helps older adults learn to cope with issues in their life. Those issues can include anxiety, depression, dementia and paranoia. The program is short-term. It emphasizes dignity and respect for each individual.

As the Medical Director your career growth begins when you join an interdisciplinary team, where doctors, nurses, therapists and other experts work together to form individualized care plans for our patients and residents. The goal of our team is to focus on each patient as an individual to ensure that we are meeting their clinical needs and creating a fun and dynamic healing environment.

This position will carry an inpatient and outpatient census, lead multidisciplinary treatment team meetings 3-5 times a week, as well as complete psychiatric evaluations on assigned patients and see patients face to face on weekdays for medication management.

As a Medical Director you must:

  • Have a medical doctorate or equivalent;
  • Hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Kentucky;
  • Be Board Certified or Eligible (with plans to sit for boards) in General Psychiatry; and
