Job Responsibilities


  • Schedule, register, verify pre-authorizations and referrals, and confirm patient diagnostic appointments, surgeries, and/or medical consultations for VCUHS.

  • Accurately obtain and document required information for hospital and physician records, governmental requirements, billing, and third-party payers.

  • Provide courteous and efficient services to patients and maintain professional and timely documentation/verifications of pre-registration information with the care team.



Qualifications

Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent; strong customer service skills and patient-centered focus.


Preferred: Minimum of two (2) years experience with third-party medical insurance, HMO, managed care, CPT, and ICD-10 coding; experience with GE/IDX, Cerner.



Additional Requirements


  • Assist VCUHS Patient Revenue Cycle Department to maximize and ensure timely reimbursement.

  • Provide patients with information regarding VCUHS policies and procedures, and direct them to appropriate services.

  • May need to work hours beyond normal shifts to address backlog or contact patients.

  • Physical activities include lifting less than 20 lbs, prolonged sitting, reaching, and repetitive motion.

  • Require strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, and communication skills; ability to handle a fast-paced environment and multiple priorities.
