Revere High School is seeking a highly qualified Guidance Counselor Long Term Substitute dedicated to providing a superior education for all students. We are seeking a Guidance Counselor who is passionate about supporting student success through building strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues. This assignment is for the full 2025-2026 school year.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following. Additions and modifications to these representative duties and responsibilities are under the purview of the Superintendent of Schools.
  • Provide robust individual school counseling to students on assigned counselor caseload
  • Register new students to Revere High School
  • Develop student schedules that align with their academic goals and meet schools graduation requirements
  • Support students with their academic, social/emotional, and post-graduate planning needs
  • Work collaboratively with counseling colleagues, families, teachers and administrators
  • Collect, maintain, and present data to various stakeholders
  • Attend and participate in parent night events as needed
  • Consult and collaborate with families and outside agencies to support student needs
  • Facilitate meetings with relevant stakeholders regarding student needs
  • Develop, present and facilitate student advisory lessons aligned to MyCAP
  • Participate in professional development to remain current with school counseling practices
  • Other job-related duties as assigned by the Director of Comprehensive Counseling & Student Success, Building Principal or Superintendent

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Possess a valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education license as a School Counselor
  • Masters Degree in School Counseling
  • School counseling experience in an urban school setting
  • Able to collaborate effectively with colleagues
  • Able to prioritize student-centered counseling with managing counseling-related tasks
  • Possess sound judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Effective clinical skills to support substance use disorders and social/emotional issues
  • Able to effectively handle a multitude of varying and complex issues
  • High level of comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment based on frequent debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent computer/technology skills with the ability to utilize various computer software and app programs
  • Committed to the vision of high expectations for achievement, equal access to high levels of instruction, the achievement of academic and linguistic proficiency for all students, and the closing of the opportunity gap
  • A self-reflective, active learner capable of interactive dialogue with all members of the school community
  • Ability to properly manage confidential information
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity and respect for others with the ability to establish rapport with and relate to students, caregivers, and coworkers with respect, compassion, tact and understanding
  • Strong commitment to equity, inclusion, diversity, and anti-racist practices

SCHEDULE & COLLECTIVE BARGAINING UNIT
Schedule, salary, and benefits will be determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Revere School Committee and the Revere Teachers Association.
