Position Title: High School Guidance Counselor
Location: New York
Salary Range: Compensation for the guidance counselor position is between $55,072.00-$76,907.00 per year depending on education level, experience, and qualifications.
Reports to: Associate Head of School

Position Summary:
St. Jean Baptiste High School is looking for a high school guidance counselor. The ideal candidate is a passionate educator with an understanding of best practices for high school level instruction.
St. Jean Baptiste is an all-girls Catholic High school that has been educating students for nearly one hundred years. St. Jean Baptiste High School develops women of faith, service, and leadership and empowers the whole community to participate actively in the transformation of society for a more just world.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Guidance Counselor to support students in their academic, personal, and social development. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in counseling and education, with the ability to provide individual and group counseling, academic advising, and conflict management. This role requires a commitment to fostering a positive school environment that promotes student well-being and success.
This position will work with several small groups of ninth grade students supporting the transition to high school. They will also meet with students individually as needed to discuss academic progress, their adjustment to high school, and goals for their future. They will work closely with the counseling team comprised of a college counselor, a 10th grade counselor, and a mental health counselor.
The Ideal Candidate will have:
- Passionate commitment to serve in an all girls Catholic educational setting.
- Experience with Google classrooms is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Past work experience is preferred

- A bachelor’s degree is required
- Must pass a background check

Responsibilities
Include but not limited to:
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to address students' academic, emotional, and social needs.
- Assist students in developing educational plans and setting academic goals through effective academic advising.
- Implement behavior management strategies to support students' behavioral health and promote positive interactions.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to create a supportive learning environment for all students..
- Maintain confidentiality while working with students and adhere to child protective services guidelines.
