Description
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Under the direction of the Vice President of Student Services.
Under the direction of the Vice President of Student Services.
- Provide academic counseling services to general and special program student populations.
- Assist students with problems related to academic progress.
- Participate in faculty and departmental meetings.
- Participate in all faculty training days.
- Ability to develop working relationships with college faculty, staff, and community groups.
- Observe, support, and enforce the regulations, policies and programs of the District.
- Refer students to appropriate college resources for information on other student services.
- Work cooperatively within the college community.
- Foster a positive working environment that is free from harassment, prejudice and/or bias.
- Demonstrate a respect for the dignity of everyone.

Minimum Qualification
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Requirements: All faculty must meet state-adopted minimum qualifications or the locally established equivalencies.
Counseling
- Master’s in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family and child counseling,
- OR the equivalent.
AND
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
(NOTE: A bachelor’s degree in one of the listed degrees and a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is an alternative qualification for this discipline.)
