Description

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Under the direction of the Vice President of Student Services.

Provide academic counseling services to general and special program student populations.
Assist students with problems related to academic progress.
Participate in faculty and departmental meetings.
Participate in all faculty training days.
Ability to develop working relationships with college faculty, staff, and community groups.
Observe, support, and enforce the regulations, policies and programs of the District.
Refer students to appropriate college resources for information on other student services.
Work cooperatively within the college community.
Foster a positive working environment that is free from harassment, prejudice and/or bias.
Demonstrate a respect for the dignity of everyone.

Minimum Qualification

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Requirements: All faculty must meet state-adopted minimum qualifications or the locally established equivalencies.

Counseling

Master’s in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family and child counseling,
OR the equivalent.

AND

Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

(NOTE: A bachelor’s degree in one of the listed degrees and a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is an alternative qualification for this discipline.)
