SUMMARY: Under direct/indirect supervision from clinical supervisor(s), provides a wide range of bio-psychosocial evaluations/assessments, individual, family, and group counseling, and/or case management services in a clinical environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides individual/family counseling and/or case management to clients and families. Prepares treatment plans, discharge plans, and follow-up care programs as necessary; provides therapeutic crisis intervention and emergency services as required.
- Collects data about clients through interviews, case history, and/or observational techniques; evaluates data to identify causes of problems and to determine proper therapeutic approach or referral to other specialists.
- Consults with other agency therapists and related professional and paraprofessional staff, as appropriate, in the performance of therapeutic and/or casework; refers clients to appropriate service agencies as required.
- Maintains client confidentiality as necessary in all communications.
- Provides and/or arranges for therapeutic interventions as appropriate for clients in a crisis condition and for those with serious disturbance problems.
- Attends clinical staff meetings and group supervision with the clinical supervisor as required.
- Refers clients to appropriate social service agencies for other required services;
- Follows up to determine reliability of treatment used; changes method and degree of therapy when indicated.
- Establishes and maintains case files, referrals, and other related documents for the treatment of clients; keeps abreast of client data to ensure appropriate treatment and care are delivered.
- Consults with supervisor and appropriate staff in relation to client records, rights, and responsibilities.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Knowledge and understanding of mental health/substance abuse counseling principles, methods, procedures, and standards.
- Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
- Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures.
- Interviewing and psychological/developmental evaluation skills.
- Knowledge of community mental health and community resources.
- Ability to maintain emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.
- Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.
- Skill in preparing and maintaining patient records.
- Knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to patients' rights.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $21.50 - $25.25 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 15.00 per week
