St. Catherine University and our Access and Success team invite applications for a full-time Social Worker position at the LSW level or higher.

St Catherine University enrolls 30% first generation students and 29% students that are Pell grant recipients. The Social Worker works with any student in need of an emergency financial assistance grant for basic needs such as housing, food, and gas. Additionally the Social Worker supports individual pregnant and parenting students to provide support, assessment, advocacy, resources, referral to resources, and assists them with problem-solving.

Responsibilities include:
  • Work with students requesting emergency grants, assessing for grants, and/or other campus and community resources.
  • Carry a pregnant and parenting student caseload for a particular enrollment group as well as a small Keys to Success student parents caseload of 4-5 students.
  • Supervise 3 student workers to manage their schedules, and train and guide them in their workforce development.
  • Work with individual student parents to provide support, assessment, advocacy, resources, referral to resources, and assist with problem-solving.
  • Outreach to student parent population with weekly “Access & Success News” emails during fall and spring semesters.
  • Maintain a caseload of four to five Keys to Success parenting students in need of intensive support.
  • Assist with weekly student parent support groups.
  • Participate in continuing education opportunities that focus on mental health issues, financial challenges, diversity, and strengthening families.
  • Serve as an active member of the Access and Success department team and engage with the campus community to promote services.
  • Engage with University colleagues, committees, and the campus community to promote services.
  • Maintain programming, recordkeeping, and data management.
  • Keep up to date with community resources for referral and networking.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Social work license at the LSW level or higher
  • Experience coordinating programs, developing and implementing new services, assisting students in crisis, and balancing competing priorities of student intervention and program implementation.
  • Experience responding respectfully and effectively to people of all cultures, in a manner that affirms the worth and preserves the dignity of individuals, families, and communities.
  • Evidence of success in building collaborative relationships and conducting assessments
  • Knowledge base surrounding resources and referrals.
  • Experience maintaining appropriate professional boundaries with people served.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience distributing emergency financial assistance.
  • Work experience supporting parenting students in a higher education setting.
  • Work or volunteer experience working with women-centered organizations.
