About Job

Mater Christi School in Burlington, VT is looking for afterschool counselors! Our school is located directly across from UVM’s campus on Mansfield Ave.

The program runs from dismissal at 2:40 to pick up promptly by 4:45 each day. We have kids from Preschool through 5th grade. Counselors are required to be there from 2:30p-5:00p. We are looking for counselors that are able to work 2-3 days a week. Pay is $22/hour.

During the program counselor responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring and playing with the children
  • Enforcing rules on the playground and in the classroom
  • Aid in conflict resolution with the children
  • Offer snacks to the children
  • Report behavioral or medical incidents to our lead counselor and assist/complete report forms
  • Our program is primarily outdoors based, and in the winter we are outside for at least half of each week so you must be flexible and able to prepare for and withstand weather conditions in Vermont
  • Timeliness and communication are critical in this position, as our program is not safe to run if we do not have enough counselors for the day

Come join our fun, energetic group of kiddos and counselors! Please contact our program director Sophie O’Neil at afterschool@materchristischool.net for more information or if you are interested in becoming a counselor.

Counselors must be Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED trained for pediatrics and adult, or willing to obtain this certification on their own time.
