Job Summary/Purpose: Provide SUD & MH counseling to individuals involved with DCYF/DJJS in the Berlin/Littleton areas. Provide case consultation to NH DCYF to educate and support their understanding of how SUD & MH impact families. By providing early intervention we are helping to keep families together and avoid out of home placements for children, whenever safely possible. If children are removed, we work with the families on reunification. Staff work out of the DCYF office with child protection and juvenile justice staff.

  • Master's Level Clinician with substance use treatment experience.
  • MLADC, LCMHC or LICSW Preferred
  • Employees are paid for the hours they work including travel, seeing clients, paperwork, consultation!
  • Hours of Work: 8:30am-4:30. NO ON CALL!!!!!! NO WEEKENDS!!!!!! We provide services in the DHHS office , client homes, in the community and via telehealth.

Each consultant is expected to spend 15-20 hours per week in direct services with clients (Counseling, Case Management, Meetings with clients). The remainder of the time is spent on consultation with DCYF, meetings, travel to appointments, documentation and supervision.

Job Description:

1. Provides co-occurring substance use and mental health treatment services, using evidenced based practices to clients involved with DCYF. Primary population are the individuals (adults and adolescents) involved with child welfare and Juvenile Justice Services.

Treatment services include, but are not limited to: assessments, evaluations, short & long term counseling, family education and support, case management and crisis intervention. Note: Because we do not work for DCYF, all client information is confidential unless a release of information is completed.

2. Reduces barriers to treatment by offering services in the DCYF office, client homes, using remote video telehealth services and in community settings.

3. Provides consultation services to DCYF staff. Consultation services include, but are not limited to: direct case consultation, participation in treatment team meetings, staff meetings and case transfer meetings.

5. Develops and maintain community partnerships to act as a liaison between DCYF & community-based treatment providers.

6. Maintains data of services provided using electronic medical records, a spreadsheet and weekly logs, all provided by employer.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Candidates are REQUIRED to a Master's Degree in one of the following disciplines:

a. Social Work

b. Mental Health Counseling

c. Clinical Psychology

d. Addictions

Preference will be given to individuals with a LICSW, MLADC or LCMHC.

2. Candidates should be able to work independently, write evaluations, complete differential diagnosis and be familiar with the ASAM Criteria.

3. Applicant will receive clinical supervision to earn dual mental health and MLADC licensure, AT NO COST TO THE EMPLOYEE.

4. Applicant must have a valid driver’s license and/or access to reliable transportation with liability insurance coverage as required by state laws for travel, statewide.

5. Applicant must have basic computer skills.

6. Applicant must disclose any action taken against their NH credential(s) including but not limited to: board action, suspension or termination of a license to practice.

7. Applicant shall authorize the Department to conduct a Bureau of Elderly and Adults Services (BEAS) State Registry Check and a Division for Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) check at no cost to the applicant. These registries check confidential results.

8. Applicant must complete a criminal background check and ensure no convictions for the following crimes including, but not limited to: felony child abuse/neglect, spousal abuse, felony physical assault/battery, child pornography, rape, sexual assault, homicide, any sexually-related crime or a crime which may indicate a person might be reasonably expected to pose a threat to a child or a drug-related offense committed within the past five years in accordance with 42 USC 671 (a)(20)(A)(ii).
