General Purpose
This position is responsible for managing all aspects affecting optimal performance of PacifiCorp’s generating resources in Energy Supply Management Planning and Operations group. Provides a continuum of long-range, short range resource forecasts and day-ahead resource management plans for PacifiCorp’s diversified resource portfolio. On a daily basis, this role will manage activity around developing short- and long-range generation plans and forecasts for use in real time operations, trading, net power cost studies and strategic business planning using complex forecasting models and analytical techniques. Responsible for selecting, coaching, and developing employees and responsible for management of employee salaries
Responsibilities
- Oversee, guide, and support day-to-day activities of the Resource Management group and manage PacifiCorp’s Energy Supply Management Planning and Operations functions, including planning, budgeting, forecasting and operations of hydroelectric, wind, coal generation and natural gas fired generation.
- Ensure compliance with NERC/FERC/WECC standards and prudent utility practices
- Manage water management and hydroelectric optimization modeling and related business processes for stream flow and hydroelectric forecasting and energy trading optimization.
- Manage short and long term thermal and hydro resource outage planning and system coordination.
- Direct ten-year planning of long-term major overhauls scheduling.
- Manage implementation of new wind forecasting, planning and data management systems for PacifiCorp’s owned and purchased resources.
- Lead Company efforts to direct development and enhancement and optimization of wind regulation and system reserve requirements.
- Act as a SME and prepare expert written and oral testimony related to hydroelectric operations and planning.
- Select, coach and manage development and performance evaluation of department staff.
- Facilitate team efforts, provide guidance and direction to team members and communicate project objectives, parameters, status, and outcomes.
- Provide plans, processes, targets and implementation and feedback mechanisms or tools for establishing best practices.
- Monitor and maintain project budgets.
- Provide guidance in building training programs and materials for new technology, processes, or procedures.
- Work closely with senior management and other departments in support of organizational objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physical Science, Economics, Statistics, Math, or related field or combination of experience and education.
- A minimum of seven years of experience in utility resource management or related discipline.
- A minimum of three years in people or functional management.
- Extensive knowledge of hydroelectric forecasting techniques.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, use oral and written communication to create a vision, communicate strategy, and effectively interface with other Company leaders.
- Ability to establish objectives, execute policy, monitor resources, and lead the development or implementation of a system, program or process.
- Leadership and teamwork skills to provide input into policy decisions and to mobilize resources to produce desired business results.
- Management skills including the ability to establish objectives, develop and execute resource operations plans, direct or monitor resources, and recommend and oversee the development or implementation of systems, programs, or processes.
- Knowledge of regulatory and political environment, as well as policies, procedures and practices, and applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

This position is eligible for an annual discretionary performance incentive bonus of up to 20% of salary.
