About Job

Camp Kesem is a national organization dedicated to supporting children affected by a parent or guardian's cancer. With 140+ week-long sessions of camp taking place in over 40 states across the country, Camp Kesem relies heavily on nurses and mental health professionals to fulfill this mission and your local chapter needs your help! Members of the Health & Wellness Team work collaboratively to ensure the emotional and physical well-being of campers and staff.

Camp Kesem at Michigan State University is looking for Health & Wellness Team members from August 9-14.

Mental Health Professionals (MHPs) should be passionate about ensuring the well-being and general safety of children and staff members.

The MHP provides multiple layers of support as needed to campers, their families, counselors, and other staff at camp, most of which is focused on emotional and behavioral needs that emerge.

The MHP works as part of the Health & Wellness Team (two nurses and a Camp Advisor).

REQUIREMENTS:

Have a Master’s in psychology, social work, or a related field

Must complete required training

Must pass a background check

Must be available for the entirety of camp and remain on camp grounds the length of the session

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support for camp staff to help ensure the well-being and preparedness of camp staff when dealing with emerging camp situations.

The MHP is NOT a therapy provider or caregiver: We do not provide therapy to campers, their families, counselors, or any other staff members.

Compensation Overview:

Compensation for nurses and mental health professionals will be agreed upon after an initial interview with chapter leadership. All lodging and meals are provided during the week. If selected, you will be compensated as an independent contractor and will be required to sign an independent contractor agreement and provide a signed W-9 form. Reimbursement of agreed-upon travel expenses may also be provided for members of the Health & Wellness Team. Compensation: $1,000/week
