Peer Support Specialist (Part-Time)

About the Role:
Compeer Rochester is seeking a compassionate and dependable Peer Support Specialist to support individuals and families navigating challenges such as mental illness, incarceration, and homelessness. This part-time role involves sharing lived experience to offer hope, build resilience, and reduce stigma through one-on-one and group peer support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide peer support based on shared lived experiences
• Help clients identify strengths and build natural support networks
• Assist with life skills, paperwork, transportation, and goal setting
• Organize and lead small group activities and pro-social events
• Support clients in their transition from services
• Collaborate with providers for case reviews and referrals
• Maintain timely and confidential documentation
• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• Lived experience with incarceration, either personally or through a close family member
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Reliable transportation

• Be a patient and active listener
• Respect each client’s strengths and individuality
• Understand the supportive (not clinical) role of peer specialists
• Maintain respectful boundaries, including around religion and spirituality
• Have knowledge of local community resources

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $23.50 per hour
