About Job

We are seeking a compassionate and committed School Social Worker to join our team in the Pittsburg, CA area. This role supports high school students and their families, with a focus on vulnerable populations facing social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. The ideal candidate will be driven by a strong sense of advocacy, cultural sensitivity, and the desire to help students overcome barriers to learning and success.

As a vital member of the school community, the Social Worker will collaborate with educators, families, and external agencies to ensure students have access to the resources and interventions they need to thrive both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify student and family needs
  • Develop and implement individualized intervention and support plans
  • Provide crisis intervention and short-term counseling for students in urgent need
  • Collaborate with child protective services and other organizations to safeguard student welfare
  • Educate families on community resources, support services, and referral processes
  • Mediate conflicts and support healthy relationship building among students and stakeholders
  • Advocate for student rights and well-being through community partnerships and school collaboration
  • Deliver culturally competent counseling services that reflect respect for diverse backgrounds
  • Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of services, case notes, and student progress
  • Stay current on best practices in school social work through ongoing professional development

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of child welfare systems and mandated reporting procedures
  • Skilled in crisis response and conflict resolution
  • Experience working with children and families in educational or therapeutic settings
  • Ability to provide culturally responsive and trauma-informed support
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized with strong time-management and documentation abilities
  • Deep empathy and a passion for supporting at-risk youth
  • Solid understanding of social work ethics, principles, and confidentiality standards
