Community Liaison

Summary:

The Community Liaison is a full-time Position that will support the integration of refugees into our workforce and community and oversee housing services for Moorefield Fresh employees. The Community Liaison will guide new entrants into our workforce, training them on company policies and work practices. Because these employees are also new to life in the United States, the Liaison will also help them to learn how to live effectively in the Moorefield Community the Community Liaison will act as a community developer, identifying and addressing the needs and concerns of local residents concerning new entrants who may have special needs. Candidate will work in a variety of ways to promote positive relationships between employees and non-employees residing in Moorefield. Responsible for managing high-level collaborative efforts between the City and Pilgrim’s, including communications, program management, and regular interaction with students, residents, political figures, businesses, charitable and support organizations, and the media. Candidate will represent Pilgrim’s Moorefield, WV relationships and efforts in public meetings, and on committees, task forces, and where otherwise needed.


Responsibilities:

  • Recruiting, selecting, training, evaluating and supervising full-time, entry-level staff positions.
  • Training new hires on how to perform the job, company policies, and practices.
  • Translating for employees to ensure understanding of key communications.
  • Advocating for employees, ensuring that their concerns and issues are communicated to management.
  • Identifying and addressing the housing, medical, and other needs of recent immigrants. Work with property owners/managers on issues associated with transportation, code enforcement, parking, neighbor relations, and local ordinances
  • Attending appropriate meetings for the city, neighborhood groups, collaborative task forces, and public forums
  • Developing and implementing the outreach strategy of Pilgrim’s in Nacogdoches and bringing interested parties (social services, schools, etc.) together as part of the development of the refugee community
  • Maintaining and updating all display boards, electronic monitors, paperwork, signage and visual displays at Pilgrim’s, in accordance with the Policy and Procedures Manual.
  • Managing and participating in all aspects of the refugee community’s activities to improve work or City relations and neighborhood quality of life issues
  • All candidates must be able to work with a diverse population, and have a valid Driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Flexibility in workplace days/hours could be required to fulfill job requirements
  • Must be able to communicate with key groups of refugees. Multilingualism would be considered an asset for this position
  • Ability to work independently, with little supervision
  • High level of energy and a positive attitude with the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • A combination of education, training, and/or experience equivalent to completion of a bachelor’s degree with major coursework in English, journalism, marketing, public relations or communications or related field
  • Good understanding about the specific needs of immigrants as they integrate into American society
  • Responsible for day-to-day operations of housing complex.
  • Maintains communication with tenants. Assists tenants with issues.
  • Inspect properties. Suggest and implement improvements concerning repairs.
  • Process applications for housing improvements and repairs and communicating outcomes to tenants.
  • Oversees the maintenance of building and grounds including daily cleaning services.
  • Tracks occupants in each unit. Coordinates moves to best utilize all rooms.
  • Ensures lease agreements are up to date with payroll deductions for each employee.
