Senior Behavior Technician (RBT Certification)
Position Summary:
As an SBT at Pillar 5, you will significantly impact individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and developmental disabilities, under the guidance of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Your core responsibilities include direct client treatment in both individual and group settings, where you will design and implement behavior modification interventions to foster social significant behaviors. You will assess clients' behavioral functions and design and implement instructional and environmental strategies to encourage skill acquisition and reduce undesired behaviors. Adhering to the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and BACB ethical guidelines, you will conduct behavioral assessments, analyze data, develop treatment strategies, and oversee their implementation. Your active role encompasses various settings, including homes, schools, communities, and the center aiming to enhance communication and social skills while improving the clients' quality of life through evidence-based practices.
Essential Job Duties:
Measurement
- Skill in preparing and conducting data collection using continuous and discontinuous measurement techniques, such as frequency, duration, partial and whole interval, and momentary time sampling.
- Skill in utilizing permanent product recording methods and accurately entering data and updating graphs.
- Skill in describing behavior and the environment in observable and measurable terms.
Assessment
- Skill in conducting preference assessments and executing individualized assessment processes, including curriculum-based, developmental, and social skills assessments.
- Skill in conducting comprehensive, developmentally appropriate functional assessments, identifying strengths and challenges across various domains, utilizing a variety of methods and sources including direct observation, interviews, and behavior scales.
- Skill in supporting functional assessment procedures.
Skill Acquisition
- Capacity to develop and execute individualized treatment plans based on assessment data, incorporating behavioral interventions, cognitive-behavioral strategies, language training, and social skills development to address identified needs.
- Capacity to identify the key elements of a written skill acquisition plan and prepare for sessions as outlined in the plan.
- Skill in applying reinforcement strategies effectively and implementing teaching strategies like discrete-trial training, naturalistic teaching, and task-analyzed chaining procedures.
Behavior Reduction
- Skill in determining the critical components of a written behavior reduction plan and understanding the common functions of behavior.
- Skill in implementing behavior modification interventions, focusing on antecedents, including motivating operations and discriminative stimuli, and employing differential reinforcement and extinction procedures.
- Capacity to adhere to protocol for crisis and emergency situations effectively.
Documentation and Reporting
- Capacity to communicate consistently and promptly with supervisors through text messages, communication systems, and email correspondence, ensuring all communications are timely and professional.
- Skill to produce precise and accurate session notes for service verification, maintaining high standards of detail and accuracy.
- Capacity to report client variables promptly, including behavior changes, progress, and incidents, while efficiently managing data protocols such as data entry, data analysis, and maintaining confidentiality.
Professional Conduct and Scope of Practice
- Capacity to thoroughly understand and describe the BACB’s RBT supervision requirements and the role of RBTs in the service-delivery system.
- Skill in maintaining professional boundaries, upholding client dignity, and integrating constructive feedback for continuous learning and skill enhancement.
Training and Supervision
- Capacity to further develop and train behavior technicians and peer Senior Behavior Technicians, demonstrating leadership in mentoring, supervising, and providing clinical guidance.
Integrated Care and Coordination
- Skill in coordinating care with other professionals and stakeholders, ensuring a holistic approach to treatment that aligns with the client’s developmental needs and family priorities.
Essential Interpersonal and Professional Competencies
- Skill in demonstrating empathy and compassion towards clients and colleagues.
- Skill in time management and organizational tasks, ensuring efficient workflow and task prioritization.
- Capacity to prepare and manage client materials, coordinating with treatment teams as needed.
- Skill in collaborating with clients, their families, outside professionals, and the treatment team for integrated care.
- Capacity to actively participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Capacity to ensure a clean, safe, and orderly work and treatment environment.
- Capacity to maintain strict client confidentiality, comply with HIPAA regulations, and uphold the ethical principles outlined by the BACB’s RBT Ethics Code 2.0 is essential.
Additional Job Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, assume and maintain a variety of postures (i.e., sitting on knees, crawling).
- Ability to access reliable technology and an internet connection for remote training, required documentation submissions, and communication.
- Ability to perform specific computer and electronic device functions for data collection along with knowledge of Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Must have reliable transportation, vehicle insurance, and a valid California Driver's License.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors of Arts or Science
- 12 semester units in ABA and one year experience designing and /or implementing behavior modification intervention services OR two years’ experience in designing and implementing behavior modification intervention services.
- Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification

Pay: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour
