Job description

Denton County Juvenile Probation is seeking a counselor to join our treatment team. This counselor position will perform individual, family, group, and crisis counseling services to residents in our juvenile residential facility. This is a 40-hour a week contract position (can consider part-time) that pays an hourly rate of $29 for a professional that holds the license of LPC-A, LMFT-A, or LMSW (working towards an LCSW) and an hourly rate of $31 for a professional that is fully licensed (LPC, LMFT, LCSW) in the state of Texas.

Free supervision for an LPC-A is provided for this position, if requested.

This position requires working a weekend day (Saturday) each week.

Counselors provide counseling services through:

  • Individual Counseling;
  • Family Counseling;
  • Group Counseling;
  • Substance Abuse Treatment and Relapse Prevention Planning;
  • Crisis Intervention (includes on-call rotation) and;
  • Mental Health Assessments.

Essential Duties:

  • Provide individual, group, and crisis counseling.
  • Counsels adolescents to assist in overcoming alcohol and drug abuse, mental health concerns, and relational problems.
  • Provides crisis intervention counseling in the residential program and in the detention facility.
  • Provides on-call counseling (rotating pattern).
  • Develops curriculum for training and counseling purposes.
  • Regular and punctual attendance is required.
  • Maintains professional liability insurance; remains an ethical and professional counselor.

Education, Experience, and Licenses:

Licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate, or a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LMSW considered if working towards LCSW).

Must be able to pass a State Criminal History background check.
