Position: Full Time - Substance Use Counselor

Department: Women's Health Project

Job Description: CDPHE RW Part B - Women's Health Project (WHP). The WHP Substance Use Therapist position works full-time with women who are living with HIV/AIDS. Comprehensive, individualized substance abuse services are provided to these women. The WHP Substance Use Counselor works with the participant's care managers who utilize a participant-centered process that links clients to housing, health care, mental health, substance abuse, and other support services to produce more positive and sustained outcomes. The WHP Substance Use Counselor will establish a service plan, develop continuity of care, and encourage the participant to work with their care manager to coordinate the services required to implement the plan. This position also works directly with women who have been referred to Part B transitional housing at the Mariposa House. The WHP Substance Use Counselor also provides on-going weekly evidence-based substance use groups, connects women who are seeking sobriety with opportunities for recovery-based events such as attending exercise at The Phoenix- a free gym for those who are abstaining from the use of alcohol and other substances.

CDPHE RW Part B - Women's Health Project (WHP)

This position is responsible for:

  • Providing substance use individual sessions for women living with HIV/AIDS
  • Identifying stages of change regarding substance use by conducting assessments such as the SBIRT and ASSIST.
  • Assessing participants needs by helping the participant identify problems and difficulties
  • Helping the participant deal with any crisis that may arise by identifying the problem and offering possible solutions
  • Maintaining all confidential files and paperwork through Electronic Health Records (Insync)
  • Conducting administrative tasks related to documentation and confidential participant records such as entering data into Co-Heart and internal tracking sheets.
  • Completing Monthly Program Reports
  • Completing strengths based, trauma informed treatment plans and updates
  • Attending Quality Community Meetings
  • Participating in ongoing clinical supervision

Other Responsibilities Include:

  • Team Meetings - Clinical Team Meeting, Administrative Team Meeting, All WHP Team Meetings and any other mandatory trainings
  • Maintaining Self-Care
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements: Must hold a current DORA licensure of Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC), Certified Addiction Specialist (CAS).

ANNUAL SALARY OFFERED IS $60,000
