Summary: This individual will be responsible for leading the Customer Care Team and managing the SIOP functions (Sales Forecasting, Inventory & Operations Planning) for RM Lucas. They will be actively involved with key customers, vendors, and internal associates to drive performance across these teams. They will identify, hire, train, inspire and drive accountability for their direct reports. They will be key to cross-functional cooperation and ensure RM Lucas optimizes the spectrum of sales forecast, production scheduling, to inventory management to order fulfillment. Ultimately, this person will be responsible for RM Lucas achieving and maintaining market leading customer service and support levels while doing so in an efficient manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Customer Care Functions:
- Measure and improve customer service levels using KPI’s such as OTIF, lead time, freight rate, purchasing cost reductions, and others.
- Lead the daily Customer Care call to manage open order fulfillment and establish clear customer communication through both Customer Care and Sales.
- Lead and manage effective teams that perform and live up to the RM Lucas Core Values: Safety, Integrity, Innovation, Passion, and Resilience. Utilize the annual performance management process to drive accountability and success.
- Capture any concerns, risks, or opportunities and communicate them throughout the organization. Assume the role of cross functional liaison for your team.
- Identify and drive solutions to overcome challenges for your respective teams and increase productivity.
- Ensure cohesive and productive communication across all departments with a company first mindset.
- Provide customer priority guidance to support service and support decisions where needed.
- Conduct up-front analysis of relative touch points in customer service (current state) and identify gaps to address inconsistency, best practices and emerging trends to create a future state
- Evaluate and recommend any changes needed for current systems and business processes
- Build relationships and maintain a positive attitude with customers, team members and other internal customers. Utilize multiple methods to measure and improve customer satisfaction levels.
SIOP Functions:
Purchasing:
- Lead & support the Purchasing team by participating in Supplier Vendor Meetings and/or calls.
- Support and step in with Supplier issues that the Purchasing Team may encounter.
- Be the cross-functional liaison between production scheduling, customer care and production teams to achieve companywide goals.
- Act as the lead for analytical & decision-making to long term planning for the business.
- Provide coaching/guidance to the purchasing team (buyers) when dealing with supplier issues, negotiations, and/or day-to-day strategic activities and support decisions when needed for the Purchasing team.
- Evaluate and make recommendations with any work processes, and/or systems to help streamline work for the team.
Production Scheduling:
- Support the Scheduling Manager by providing the strategic framework & high-level plans that translate into actionable, detailed schedules.
- Provide a Master Production Plan (MPP) to help the scheduler with overall production volume and timing for key product groups or items over a medium-to-long term horizon, i.e. (12-18 months). This will help the scheduler to create more detailed, short-term schedules for production.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration with other departments (Sales, Marketing, Production, Finance, and Supply Chain) to ensure the production plan aligns with sales forecasts, customer demand, & available resources (capacity, materials, labor).
- Help identify and resolve potential capacity constraints, material shortages, or other bottlenecks that could impact production.
- Optimize inventory levels by setting inventory targets and strategies (e.g. safety stock levels, lead times).
- Central point of contact in communicating significant changes and deviations to demand or supply so it gets integrated into the broader plan.
- Driver of continuous improvement with reviewing and identifying areas for process improvement in planning and scheduling by working with the scheduler to implement best practices and leverage new tools (e.g. ERP/MRP system enhancements).
- Provide ongoing guidance and support to the Scheduler in navigating unforeseen challenges & adapting schedules to business needs.
- Participate in daily/weekly production meetings, offering strategic insights and aligning scheduling decisions with SIOP objectives.
- Demand Planning: Develop and maintain demand forecasts by integrating data from sales, marketing, and finance.
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and ensure optimal stock levels in collaboration with production and purchasing teams. Develop and utilize KPI’s to segment and measure inventory.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with various departments to ensure timely order shipments and effective communication.
- Process Improvement: Identify areas for process enhancement and implement best practices in SIOP.
- Analytics Development: Create advanced forecasting models and analytics tools to support data-driven decision-making. Ensures alignment of supply and demand effectively.
Qualifications:
- Excellent planning, problem solving, analytical skills and advanced Excel skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization and experience in working with external constituencies.
- Organized, hard-working, with a sense of urgency and quick response.
- Ability to extrapolate conclusions from large data sets.
- Be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and able to react to shifting priorities to meet business need.
Education/Experience:
5 + years of Supply Chain and Customer Interface experience, including 3+ years of experience in materials planning, forecasting, and/or Sales & Inventory Planning.
Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing or related field (Preferred)
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Outlook Internet software; SAP or equivalent Manufacturing software; SAP or equivalent Order processing systems; Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word - Word Processing software.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has 6 direct reports.
Compensation & Benefit Information:
Base Salary Range from $102k/year to $120k/year+ Bonus Potential – 10%
