GENERAL SUMMARY/BASIC PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Oncology Nurse Navigator is a professional nurse who functions as a clinical resource to the Oncology Program, coordinates referrals from physicians and healthcare facilities for patients, guides patients through the healthcare system by assisting them with access issues and provides a significant level of patient education related to oncology diagnosis and planned treatment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

• BSN

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of 2 years Oncology experience

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

• In-depth knowledge of cancer care, including both clinical and supportive care
• Knowledge of community-based cancer support services
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office

  REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

• Current licensure in the State of Illinois as a Registered Nurse
• CPR certification
• Oncology Nursing Certification preferred
