Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a DHCS approved Alcohol and Drug certification. As a Counselor, you will provide support with professionalism and meeting the residents where they are at in their early recovery. You will document resident's progress and maintain treatment plan and problem list updates. With professionalism and therapeutic techniques, such as motivational interviewing and crisis intervention, you will be encouraged to foster a safe and nurturing environment for residents. This role is essential in promoting emotional well-being and facilitating positive change in the lives of those you serve.
Duties
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address resident's substance use disorder and mental health needs.
- Utilize therapeutic techniques such as, motivational interviewing, and client centered care.
- Develop personalized treatment plans based on clients' unique circumstances and goals.
- Provide support for individuals dealing with PTSD, trauma, and other challenges.
- Observe medication times. Log new and incoming medication.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care for residents.
- Engage in continuous professional development to enhance counseling skills and stay updated on best practices.
Skills
- Good verbal communication and grammar skills for documentation (bilingual a plus)
- Proficiency in writing progress notes in GIRP format.
- Experience or knowledge with withdrawal management residents in 3.2 LOC.
- Strong motivational interviewing skills to encourage client engagement.
- Familiarity with 12 step recovery.
- Expertise in providing care for individuals experiencing PTSD.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with diverse populations.
