Compass Healthcare is conducting a search for an experienced LCSW for a Director of Bereavement opportunity for a Hospice located in the Bronx, New York. Qualified candidates will have a LCSW in NYS, a minimum of 5 years of Social Work Managerial level experience, as well as experience with Bereavement, Grief Counseling, Hospice & Palliative Care and experience working with patient’s families and children throughout the palliative care process.
Under the direction of the Vice President of Patient and Family Experience the Director of Bereavement plans, coordinates and directs the Facility’s Bereavement Services, including Hospice Community services and Home Hospice Program.
- Responsible for the development of policies and procedures for Bereavement Services.
- Develops and presents Annual 10 Week course on Bereavement and Grief Related Issues to persons in the helping professions.
- Develops the annual training for school administrators, social workers, guidance counselors and other clinicians on children/teenage grief reactions.
- Promotes education and support by participating as a presenter in workshops, conferences, and in-service training sessions.
- Explores issues and new directions for the coordination of all Bereavement programming throughout the organization
- Keeps informed regarding trends, needs, and research in the field of Bereavement
- Coordinates bereavement summer camp for children and adolescents
- Makes suggestions and recommendations for expansion of the program.
- Prepares and recommends operating budget for the program, costs, and expenditures.
- Collaboration with Hospice Program personnel to ensure full compliance with Hospice regulations.
- Assesses and provides follow-up home visits for hospice families thought to be at risk for complicated grief.
- Counsels bereaved individuals and/or families and friends and staff of deceased patients as appropriate.
- Coordinates bereavement support groups for family members of patients and the community at large.
- Works closely with the Medical Director, Vice Presidents, Clinical and Community Services, Director of Pastoral Care, and other clinical leaders to ensure planned programs and services meet the needs of patients and families in all care settings.
- Plans, directs, and participates in community programs and services.
Qualifications:
- Leadership and organizational abilities, excellent communication skills.
- Minimum of 3-4 years Management experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in bereavement.
- Senior level management experience required.
- Exhibits an ability and attitude relative to the spirit of caring and tradition as required by specific job duties and functions.
- Master’s degree and license in Clinical Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or Creative Art Therapy. LCSW

Salary: $125,000 -140,000, plus excellent Benefits
