Job Summary:

As a Certified SUD Counselor, you will assist individuals in accordance with their treatment plans, helping them enhance their ability to perform tasks in their daily living and educational/working environments. You will engage in various essential functions, including assessments, treatment planning, and crisis management, all while maintaining a positive and professional relationship with clients and referral sources.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Complete intake/screening/assessment process within appropriate time frames as designated by state regulatory/accrediting body/agency standards.
  • Develop treatment plans for clients in accordance with state regulatory/accrediting body guidelines that demonstrate individualization and evolution based on information gathered from assessment.
  • Facilitate group counseling, group education, family conferences, and individual sessions focused on resolving problems related to substance use that interfere with the person's functioning.
  • Document all services provided in accordance with state regulatory/accrediting body/agency standards.
  • Handle crisis situations as they arise and assist clients through the transition process.
  • Maintain positive, professional relationships with referral sources, clients, and coworkers, adhering to Code of Ethics and agency policies.
Education, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications:
  • Master's or bachelor's degree (non-licensed) in a human services field, and/or certified/credentialed to provide services within scope of practice.
  • Hold the credentials of a Qualified Addiction Professional as defined by the Missouri Credentialing Board, Inc. (MCB) or the Kansas Behavioral Science Regulatory Board (BSRB).
  • Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) or Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC) or Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor (LCAC).
  • Individuals must be willing to become credentialed in additional states and provide telehealth services.
Additional Qualifications:
  • Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect, and fingerprint check.
  • Current driver's license in state of residency, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance.
  • First Aid and CPR certification within three (3) months of beginning employment.
  • Completion of annual training requirements including Relias.
Physical Requirements:
  • ADA Consideration - Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
