About Job

Bilingual Social Work Assistant
Full-Time | 45 Weeks | Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM
ACDS Westchester – Scarsdale, NY

ACDS Westchester, located in Scarsdale, NY, proudly provides preschool special education services to children with a range of developmental needs from Westchester and surrounding counties. With a focus on inclusive education, individualized support, and family partnership, we create nurturing environments where every child can learn, grow, and thrive.

We are currently seeking a Bilingual Social Work Assistant to join our dedicated team. This full-time, school-year (45-week) position is essential in supporting our Spanish-speaking families — ensuring that language is never a barrier to connection, understanding, or opportunity.

If you’re someone who values meaningful relationships, community impact, and being part of something bigger, this is your chance to help change lives in a supportive, mission-driven environment.

What You'll Do:

Under the supervision of the Principal or designee, you’ll serve as a vital link between Spanish-speaking families and the ACDS team, ensuring clear communication, cultural understanding, and strong relationships across home and school settings.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Translate during informal teacher/family meetings, classroom interactions, and clinical sessions.
  • Provide in-person support and translation at Back to School Night, Parent-Teacher Conferences, IFSP/CPSE meetings, and other key events.
  • Translate written materials including teacher notes, school handouts, evaluations, summaries, and reports from English to Spanish.
  • Conduct intake meetings and support bilingual families through the Early Intervention (EI) and CPSE/CSE transition process.
  • Assist families in accessing community supports such as food drives, mental health services, or advocacy resources.
  • Coordinate and support events such as parent support groups, caregiver workshops, and seasonal family programs.
  • Collaborate with social workers on special events like Special Friends Day, Sibling Day, Father’s Breakfast, and Graduation.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in line with FERPA, HIPAA, and agency standards.
  • Be able to lift up to 50 pounds and participate in required training, including CPR and Department of Health (DOH) onboarding sessions.

What You Bring:

  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Full fluency in spoken and written Spanish.
  • Strong communication skills and cultural sensitivity.
  • A friendly, collaborative spirit and a deep respect for diverse families.
  • Excellent organization and follow-through.
  • A desire to be part of a supportive, child-focused team.
