About Job

Northeast Family Services is seeking an experienced Intake Coordinator to join our growing NY team!

The Intake Coordinator manages all aspects of the registration and admissions process for Northeast Family Services in NY, including all 5 boroughs and Westchester County. They are responsible for answering incoming calls, gathering referral information, verifying insurance coverage, and scheduling clients’ appointments.

To be successful in the Intake Coordinator position, you need to be highly organized, detail oriented, and have a working knowledge of payer portals, co-pays, deductibles, and health insurance benefits. Top candidates will also have excellent interpersonal skills and work well as part of a multidisciplinary team that includes therapists, clinicians, nurse practitioners and peers.

This is an on-site position in Bronx, NY, not remote. In-office, day shift hours required.

Bilingual English / Spanish is preferred for this role.

Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in patient intake and scheduling

  • Preferred in English / Spanish required

  • Working knowledge of insurance benefits and authorizations

  • Proficient computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Records (EHR)

  • Experience working with and helping clients with co-occurring disorders

  • Must have prior experience with behavioral health field

  • Ability to keep client and company confidences

  • Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress

  • Strong time management and organizational skills
