Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Peer Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have lived experience with mental health or substance use challenges and be able to provide support to individuals in their recovery journey. This role involves utilizing personal experiences to foster hope, promote recovery, and empower individuals to achieve their goals. The Certified Peer Specialist will work collaboratively with clients, offering guidance, encouragement, and resources to help them navigate their path to wellness.

Duties

• Provide one-on-one support and mentoring to individuals facing mental health or substance use challenges.
• Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to engage clients and facilitate discussions about their recovery goals.
• Assist clients in developing coping strategies and life skills necessary for maintaining stability and wellness.
• Conduct crisis intervention and management as needed, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients.
• Collaborate with behavioral health professionals to create comprehensive care plans tailored to individual needs.
• Facilitate group sessions that promote peer support, sharing of experiences, and community building.
• Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress in accordance with organizational policies.
• Advocate for clients within various systems, including healthcare, social services, and community resources.

Requirements

• Certification as a Peer Specialist is required.
• Lived experience with mental health or substance use challenges is essential.
• Knowledge of addiction counseling principles and behavioral health systems is preferred.
• Strong skills in crisis intervention and crisis management are highly desirable.
• Experience in social work or mental health counseling is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to establish rapport with diverse populations and demonstrate empathy.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and training in relevant areas such as mentoring techniques.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $20.86 - $25.12 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 30 per week
