Position Summary

The Victim Advocate works in a continuous growth, team environment in multiple capacities to promote trauma reduction, community collaboration, and a holistic family response to child abuse victims and their families. The position provides trauma-informed education, crisis intervention, support, advocacy, and referrals for child victims and their families, including on-going services throughout the court process. Additional duties include providing occasional community outreach to improve victim access to services and community awareness of services.

Job Duties

  • Case management and advocacy with child and adolescent victims of sexual abuse and their families
  • Needs assessments and referrals/linkages to resources
  • Develop plan of action and safety plans with/for child and appropriate family members
  • Case documentation
  • Advocacy/support within criminal justice, child protection, mental health, and medical systems
  • Act as liaison between child/family and professionals in those systems
  • Provide education to victims, families
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Accurate completion of required documentation and report statistics according to program guidelines
  • Participate in on-going professional development training, including out-of-town trainings
  • Data entry in case tracking system
  • Participate in agency outreach (mailings, social media, events)
  • Attend community collaborative meetings to increase victim access to services
  • Embrace and promote a diverse and inclusive environment
  • Embrace and promote a psychologically safe, continuous growth, and positive work environment
  • Represent and promote the Children’s Advocacy Center in a positive regard
  • Other duties, as assigned
