KENTECH Consulting Inc.
A national leader in public safety and investigative technology solutions, KENTECH supports law enforcement and government agencies with innovative background screening and vetting services. As we expand our offerings in Texas, we are hiring a licensed psychologist to conduct pre-employment psychological evaluations for peace officer candidates—starting with a major contract for the Dallas Police Department.

Position Summary:

KENTECH is seeking a Texas-licensed psychologist (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) with expertise in pre-employment psychological screening for law enforcement. This role involves administering psychological evaluations in compliance with Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Rule §217.1, ensuring officers meet the psychological standards required for sworn service.

This is a contract or employed opportunity with flexible hours, administrative support, and the option to work fully remote. You will serve as the provider of record, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and professionalism in all assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pre-employment psychological evaluations for peace officer applicants following a conditional offer of employment
  • Administer and interpret standardized psychological assessments (e.g., MMPI-2, CPI, or equivalent)
  • Perform clinical interviews (via secure video or in person)
  • Prepare clear and legally compliant reports indicating “Fit” or “Not Fit for Duty” status
  • Maintain accurate, HIPAA-compliant documentation and ensure all processes align with BHEC, TCOLE, and APA standards
  • Collaborate with KENTECH’s internal scheduling and background investigation teams for workflow management
  • Participate in periodic audits or reviews of evaluation processes and outcomes
Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in Psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) from an accredited institution
  • Active, unrestricted Texas psychologist license in good standing through BHEC / Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists
  • Authorized and qualified to conduct psychological evaluations under TCOLE Rule §217.1
  • Experience with law enforcement psychological screenings or public safety assessments preferred
  • Familiarity with tools like Pearson Q-Local, HIPAA-compliant video platforms, and secure documentation practices
  • Strong written communication and clinical judgment skills
Compensation:

  • Per-evaluation fee or monthly retainer options available
  • Competitive rates and flexible workload
  • Opportunity to grow a long-term relationship as part of a pioneering law enforcement screening initiative
Additional Requirements:

  • Must serve as provider of record; KENTECH does not practice psychology and will represent services as “in partnership with licensed psychologists”
  • Must carry or be eligible for professional liability insurance
  • Must be able to retain evaluation records for a minimum of two years per TCOLE requirements
