The Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) provides mental health services, psychosocial assessments, and therapeutic interventions to individuals, families, and groups in a clinical, community, or correctional setting. In Calipatria, CA, LCSWs may work in settings such as correctional facilities, local clinics, or community health organizations, addressing mental health, substance abuse, and social service needs. The role involves collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to develop treatment plans, connect clients to resources, and promote emotional and behavioral well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Psychosocial Assessments: Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify clients’ psychological, social, and emotional needs. Document history and develop individualized care plans.
- Therapeutic Interventions: Provide evidence-based counseling and psychotherapy, including individual, group, and family therapy, using techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, or play therapy (if working with children).
- Case Management: Coordinate care with physicians, case managers, and other professionals to ensure clients access necessary services, such as mental health treatment, housing, or public benefits.
- Crisis Intervention: Offer immediate support for clients experiencing mental health crises, including suicide risk assessments and safety planning.
- Resource Connection: Assist clients in navigating community resources, including healthcare, social services, and financial support, particularly in underserved areas like Calipatria.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate clinical records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and referrals, adhering to HIPAA and state regulations.
- Collaboration: Work with interdisciplinary teams (e.g., medical providers, educators, or correctional staff) to develop and implement strategies for client success.
- Advocacy: Advocate for clients’ needs, ensuring equitable access to care and addressing barriers in rural or correctional settings.
- Follow-Up: Ensure timely follow-up on patient referrals and return calls promptly to maintain continuity of care.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Provide mental health support to inmates, addressing issues like substance abuse, trauma, or adjustment to incarceration.
- Develop and implement behavioral health treatment plans in collaboration with correctional healthcare staff.
- Conduct risk assessments and provide crisis intervention in high-stress environments.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited school of social work.
- Licensure:
- Current and valid Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).
- Must have passed the LCSW California Law and Ethics Exam.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in clinical social work, preferably in mental health, behavioral health, or medical social work settings.
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Certification in Case Management (CCM, ACM) is preferred but not mandatory.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in psychosocial assessments, therapeutic interventions, and case management.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work with diverse populations and interdisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices (e.g., CBT, trauma-informed care).
- Bilingual skills (e.g., Spanish) are a plus, given the diverse population in Calipatria.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, HIPAA compliance, and electronic health records.
