Required Degree: Doctoral Degree in Psychology (PhD or PsyD).

The required degree must be completed by the start date.

Experience: The Brigham Young University Department of Psychology invites applicants of any academic rank to fill a part-time position in the Department of Psychology for Fall Semester 2025. The selected candidate will show commitment to excellence in graduate teaching and mentoring. The candidate is expected to have competence and experience in child and adolescent clinical psychology. Our department values student mentoring, a collegial culture, and experiential learning.

Duties/Expectations:

The selected candidate will teach Psychology 653: Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, a graduate-level course for clinical psychology doctoral students. The course is designed to help students develop foundational and applied knowledge in clinical work with children and adolescents. Qualified candidates will have substantial experience in evidence-based assessment and intervention with youth populations.

Course content includes helping students understand key differences between providing psychological services to children and adolescents versus adults, facilitating discussion and critical thinking around evidence-based practices in clinical child psychology, and teaching the ethical and legal principles relevant to child and adolescent psychotherapy. The course will also support students in developing awareness and skill in managing process issues in child therapy, such as engagement and developmental considerations, and will familiarize them with a range of empirically supported interventions, including their known limitations.

Assessment will include exams, quizzes, and class presentations. Candidates should be able to provide constructive feedback on clinical writing and presentations and evaluate student understanding of professional and ethical standards in child and adolescent clinical practice.

This course will be taught in person from 8:00-10:50am on Wednesdays during Fall Semester 2025.
