Position Purpose

As an Addiction Counselor on our Adolescent Residential Program, you'll be an integral member of a multidisciplinary team and serve as a primary counselor in the delivery of substance use disorder treatment services to clients and their families and facilitate the issues of recovery into their daily living situations. As the primary counselor you will work with clients and develop their individual treatment goals and document their progress towards their goals in the electronic medical record. Our Addiction Counselors use evidenced-based therapies when facilitating group, family and individual sessions.

Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Addiction Studies or other related field, or commensurate experience and training preferred;
  • Minimum tCADC/CADC, LBSW, LMSW, tLMHC/LMHC or other state or national licensure that supersedes the tCADC or obtain within six months of hiring or;
  • Associate's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Addiction Studies or other related field required AND a tCADC/CADC;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems strongly preferred;
  • Ability to accurately complete required documentation within prescribed time frames;
  • Skilled in conducting individual, family, and group counseling;
  • Ability to present and coordinate lectures for clients, parents, staff, or community resources;
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently;
  • Ability to work within a team;
  • Belief in the mission and vision of Rosecrance.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Work hours prescribed by leadership and any additional hours deemed necessary for the responsibilities assigned.
  • Conduct individual, group, and family counseling and educational sessions for clients and/or family members.
  • Complete client psychosocial and individualized treatment plan within required time frame.
  • Identify client clinical and case management needs and work to address those needs.
  • Educate client and client support members regarding all aspects of treatment, corresponding health issues and steps to recovery.
  • Undertake primary case management responsibilities for designated clients.
  • Ensure that documentation in client service record is maintained consistent with expectations defined by licensure, TJC and Medicaid regulations.
  • Maintain communications with all staff (e.g. admissions, case management and discharge plans).
  • Assume on-call responsibilities per schedule or when designated.
  • Present workshops, lectures and training to clients, families, and staff and community groups.
  • Be familiar with court proceedings and available to make court appearances on behalf of Rosecrance clients.
  • Serve as a member of the team and participate in all team meetings and activities.
  • Exercise confidentiality in keeping with the Code of Conduct and with the framework of the law.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service consistently to every customer.
  • Serve as a role model for other staff, clients and customers and demonstrate positive guest relations in representing Rosecrance.
  • Assume other related responsibilities as delegated and assigned by management.

Job Type: Full-time (40 hoursp per week)

Schedule

  • 8 hour shifts
  • Hours: Tuesday-Saturday, 8:30AM-5:00PM; one evening 11:30AM-8PM

Work Location: Rosecrance Jackson Centers – Sioux City, IA

Work Mode: On-Site

Compensation & Rewards

  • Starting Pay: Based on education, experience and credentials
    • Starting rate for Bachelors - $21.11/hour
    • Starting rate for Masters - $24.44/hour
  • Shift differential:
    • Additional $1.50 per hour residential differential
    • Additional $.50 per hour with CADC certification
  • Incentives:
    • $.50 per hour with tCADC/CADC certification
