Blue Sky Innovative Solutions is seeking a qualified temporary Licensed Professional Counselor III .

LOCATION: Camp Springs, MD

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

POSITION DESCRIPTION This is a professional position that performs behavioral health assessments, individual and/or family therapy, facilitate parenting and prevention groups, and administrative responsibilities related to COMAR clinical reporting guidelines in the completion of daily activities of the Children, Youth, and Families Division. Work is performed in accordance with established County, state, Federal policies, procedures, and regulations

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide a safe, non-judgmental space for youth/families to address a range of behavioral health i.e., mental and substance use issues they may be experiencing.
  • Provide comprehensive supportive services i.e., diagnostic evaluations, create treatment plans, individual/family counseling, parenting and prevention groups.
  • Help youth/parents understand their feelings and develop coping strategies.
  • Develop strategies to increase family engagement and support.
  • Conduct presentations to educate agencies, and the community of the Children in Need of Support (CINS) program through outreach events, PSA (s), and technology.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • A minimum of 3 + years of experience working with youth and families in a behavioral health setting.
  • Passing score on the National Counselors Examination (NCE) of the National Board for Certified Counselors. Passing score on the Maryland Law Assessment exam.
  • Must have experience conducting diagnostic evaluations and developing treatment plans.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to provide a safe and nonjudgmental space for families
  • Ability to facilitate counseling sessions and parenting support groups.
  • Proficient in developing coping strategies for youth and parents.
  • Experience in developing and implementing strategies to increase family engagement and support.
  • Ability to create and conduct presentations for community agencies and outreach events.
  • Knowledge of effective outreach methods and understanding of diverse cultural backgrounds and the ability to adapt services to meet the needs of different families.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • (LCSW, LGSW, LPC, or LPGC)
EDUCATION
  • A master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field from a board-approved program at a regionally accredited institution.

HOURS OF OPERATION
The work site location will be performed predominantly at the Government offices during core business hours of 8:00 a.m. 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday on a regular 40 hour per week schedule unless otherwise required by the Manager. Our government customer reserves the right to alter individual work locations(s) and schedules. Additionally, contractors may be required to provide support during evenings and weekends outside the core hours of operations as needed (e.g., emergencies, system maintenance activities, tasks and projects) and authorized by the Manager.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Must have the use of sensory skills to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public using the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. No significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States of America. Sponsorship will not be a part of this contract.
  • Must successfully complete a Blue Sky and customer background screening.
