- Develop and implement professional learning opportunities related to child care curriculum, assessment tools, and early childhood best practices.
- Support curriculum implementation across all district-operated child care centers, including PK3 Early Learning Blended programs.
- Ensure compliance with all DHS and Early Head Start instructional standards.
- Monitor that all child care staff meet CECPD professional development requirements and maintain up-to-date training certifications (e.g., infant/toddler CPR).
- Facilitate the adoption of high-quality instructional practices across all child care settings.
- Collaborate with Child Care Directors and Team Leads to recruit, retain, and develop qualified early childhood educators and caregivers.
- Represent OKCPS at recruitment events, job fairs, and informational sessions targeting parenting students and current district staff.
- Coordinate and facilitate targeted onboarding and ongoing professional development for child care personnel.
- Manage and support child care-related internships and work-based learning partnerships with select high schools.
- Promote awareness of child care services among district schools, families, and staff.
- Develop and maintain Family and Staff Handbooks to support consistent expectations and communication.
- Engage volunteers and foster relationships with community partners that enhance child care program quality and access.
- Serve as liaison between child care centers and broader school communities to ensure program visibility and integration.
- Monitor compliance with all DHS licensing and CECPD reporting requirements, including mandated reporting and background checks.
- Ensure all centers maintain required STAR ratings and regulatory documentation.
- Coordinate evaluations of program quality and effectiveness, recommending improvements and realignments as needed.
- Align financial and human resources with district priorities for early learning.
- Lead the development and execution of marketing and outreach strategies for family engagement and enrollment growth.
- Cultivate partnerships with local organizations, higher education institutions, and state agencies to support program sustainability and improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in early childhood program coordination, administration, or leadership.
- Demonstrated knowledge of DHS, CECPD, and Early Head Start standards and regulations.
- Proven ability to lead professional development and instructional coaching for early childhood educators.
- Experience managing compliance documentation, regulatory audits, and program quality assessments.
- Strong communication, organizational, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to build effective partnerships with school staff, families, and community organizations.
- Must possess or be eligible to obtain required DHS background checks and CECPD trainer certifications.
- Master’s Degree in Early Childhood or Child Development
- Must have adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and perform required duties on the computer.
- Must have adequate visual acuity to read, interpret and transcribe written material and other required duties.
- Requires normal range of hearing and clear speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others in person and on the telephone and technology platforms
- Requires some stooping, bending, stretching and occasional lifting not to exceed 25 pounds.
- Sitting for prolonged periods of time.
- May periodically require work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, under sometimes. stressful conditions in order to meet business needs and strict deadlines.

Position Summary:
The Child Care Coordinator serves as a key leader in Oklahoma City Public Schools’ Early Childhood Education Department, responsible for the strategic oversight, regulatory compliance, talent development, and operational excellence of all district child care programs. This position ensures high-quality instruction, supports staff recruitment and development, and promotes family and community engagement across child care settings. The coordinator will work closely with Child Care Directors/Team Leads, district leaders, and external partners to deliver early learning experiences that align with DHS, CECPD, and Early Head Start standards.
