SUMMARY:

This professional will translate and interpret bi-directionally between English and Spanish languages, providing interpretation services to facilitate communications for Wraparound Program families and staff. Meetings take place in the community and in the family homes. Translation and editing of business/program documents is also required. Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality, proper boundaries and positive relationships with strong or difficult personalities. Must demonstrate the ability to fluently read, listen and speak in English and Spanish. Advanced level written and verbal communication skills, strong decision making ability and attention to detail are equally important. This person must be exceedingly well organized and flexible, and enjoy the administrative challenges of supporting multiple projects and remote staff and offices. This position also requires the sensitivity of working in the non-profit, mental health service industry.  


PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: 

The San Bernardino Wrap program is a community-based, family-centered, needs-driven program designed to maintain children with emotional disturbances in the community at the lowest level of care possible. The goal of the program is to reduce the risk of out-of-home placement and recidivism by brining individuals, agencies and the community together as the decision-making team with the central focus being to meet the needs of the child and family. Services assist in supporting the mental health needs of children and their families, allowing safe and appropriate care, and promoting coordination and collaboration in care planning efforts with the Children and Family Team (CFT) and other child-serving agencies.


GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Experience

  1. AA or two years of college preferred.
  2. 1 – 2 years’ experience as an interpreter preferred.


Licensure, Registration, Certification

  1. Valid CA driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.
  2. Completion of CPR/First Aid/ProACT certification within the first thirty (30) days of employment.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Microsoft Outlook.  
  • Must be able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to author and produce their own emails, letters, reports and other documents in a professional manner. That is, documents and correspondence should be relatively free of grammar and spelling errors.”
  • Ability to interact professionally and effectively with all levels of employees within the organization, to include peers, co-workers and supervisors.
  • Must be detail oriented and have the ability to complete documentation in a timely manner.
  • Excellent time management, organizational and follow through skills.
  • Ability to appear to work every day and on time. Must have reliable transportation as travel up to 2 hours between office locations and within the community is required. 
  • Ability to follow directions from a supervisor.
  • Ability to understand and follow posted, printed and/or electronic work rules and procedures.
  • Ability to accept constructive criticism in a respectful, open and interactive manner.
  • Experience working with people over the phone.
  • Must have the ability to perform efficiently and effectively with multiple interruptions.


JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Have general working knowledge of the non-profit service industry.
  • Understand and comply with HIPPA and other regulatory compliance.
  • Have general knowledge of mental health issues as they related to our programs.
  • Communicate and handle incoming and outgoing electronic communications.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, and follow through on issues in a timely manner. 
  • Handle confidential information which would have immediate negative impact on the company operations, performance, or value if shared beyond its intended audience. 
  • Complete projects as assigned by the Program Director.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
