About Job

Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a pediatric/lifespan neuropsychologist for a full-time position specializing in neuropsychological assessment of children of all ages. These positions are administratively housed in the Division of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health and services are provided in the NeuroDevelopmental Science Center, which includes Neurology, Neurosurgery, Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics, and Physiatry. These positions offer a unique opportunity to join an existing team of neuropsychologist and to specialize in patients with Neurofibromatosis, patients from our neuro-oncology program, patients admitted to our intensive inpatient and day rehabilitation programs, and/or patients with congenital heart defects. Specialization will be dependent on candidate interest, and additional opportunities for specialization may be available upon request. There are also opportunities to provide general neuropsychological services for children and families dealing with epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, metabolic disorders, cranio-facial disorders, Turner Syndrome, genetic disorders, renal transplantation clearance evaluations, and long-term effects of perinatal issues. The neuropsychology service is supported by full-time psychometricians.
There are excellent clinical and research opportunities for collaboration with pediatric neuropsychologists and psychologists, physicians, nurses and other health care professionals as members of the multidisciplinary team, and the Neuropsychology Service maintains an active and large database comprised of every patient seen. Academic appointment appropriate to rank is provided through Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED), and all licensed psychologists are members of the Medical Staff at Akron Children's Hospital and serve on hospital committees. Supervision, teaching, and training of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in neuropsychology (APPCN) and psychology (APPIC), pediatric medical residents, developmental behavioral pediatrics fellows, and child psychiatry fellows are integral components of position responsibilities.
REQUIREMENTS: Ph.D. or Psy.D. in child clinical psychology/pediatric psychology including completion of an internship in an APA/CPA-accredited child psychology/pediatric psychology program, eligibility for licensure in Ohio, and completion of a formal two-year Pediatric Neuropsychology Post-doctoral Fellowship (APPCN preferred). Experience with medical populations is preferred. Board certification in Clinical Neuropsychology must be obtained within 5 years of hire.
