Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Recreation Therapist to join our team. The ideal candidate will work with individuals across various age groups, including seniors and children, to enhance their physical, emotional, and social well-being through therapeutic recreation activities. This role is essential in providing support for patients dealing with developmental disabilities, PTSD, and other mental health challenges. The Recreation Therapist will develop customized treatment plans that promote recovery and improve quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to determine individual needs and preferences.
- Develop and implement therapeutic recreation programs tailored to the specific requirements of patients.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions that encourage participation and foster social interaction.
- Utilize various therapeutic modalities, including music therapy, to engage patients in meaningful activities.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide holistic care for patients in nursing homes or similar settings.
- Provide crisis management support when necessary, ensuring a safe environment for all participants.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions and progress in compliance with facility policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy or a related field; certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) is preferred.
- Experience working with senior care populations or individuals with developmental disabilities is highly desirable.
- Strong skills in crisis management and group therapy facilitation.
- Knowledge of patient assessment techniques and the ability to create tailored therapeutic interventions.
- Familiarity with music therapy practices is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to improve the lives of others through recreational activities.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $23.60 - $28.42 per hour
