Job Description
Police Victim Advocate
The Police Victim Advocate at Brigham Young University provides compassionate support and advocacy services to victims of crime within the university community. This role involves working closely with campus police, students, faculty, staff, Title IX, Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), BYU Survivor’s Victim Advocate, Women's Services, the McDonald Health Center, Wasatch Forensic Nursing, and others to ensure victims receive the necessary emotional, legal, and practical support that they need. The advocate will uphold the university's faith-based values while fostering a safe and supportive environment.

Job Description
Police Victim Advocate
The Police Victim Advocate at Brigham Young University provides compassionate support and advocacy services to victims of crime within the university community. What You’ll Do In This Position
Victim Support / Resource Coordination / Advocacy
- Provide immediate and ongoing support to victims of crime, including crisis intervention, emotional support, and guidance through the criminal justice process.
- Connect victims with appropriate campus and community resources, such as counseling services, legal assistance, and medical care.
- Advocate for victims' rights and needs within the university and the broader community, ensuring their voices are heard and respected.
- Develop and deliver educational programs and workshops on topics related to victimization, safety, and support services.
- Work collaboratively with campus police, student services, and other university and community resources to create a coordinated response to incidents of crime.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all legal and ethical guidelines regarding victim advocacy.
- Conduct follow-up on all mental or emotional health cases reported to the BYU Police and BYU Security Departments.
What qualifies you for this role:
- High School graduate or completion of GED
- Commitment to the university's faith-based mission and values, with the ability to integrate these principles into advocacy work.
- Possess a current and valid Driver’s License
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, or a related field is preferred.
- Two years of experience in victim advocacy, crisis intervention, or a related field is preferred.
