Travel Pay Rate: $2100 weekly ($16.50/hr on w2 + $1440/week stipend)

Local Pay Rate: $48.75 per hour on W2

Position Summary:

• Uses holistic approach in provision of medical social services to YKDRH patients and their families to assist in solving or ameliorating physical, social, emotional, and/or environmental problems which retard or prevent patients from attaining or retaining optimum health.
• Housing provided.
• MSW (Master of Social Work) from an accredited school of Social Work
• Basic knowledge of computer use.
• Prefer experience working in cross-cultural setting with bilingual language skills in English & Yup'ik.
• Ability to read, comprehend & write at the college level & effectively present information in one-on-one & group situations to patients/clients, agencies, communities, & other employees of the organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply/divide in all units of measure, with whole numbers, common fractions, & decimals; compute rate, ratio, percent; draw/interpret bar graphs.
• Should be able to perform supervisory tasks when the supervisor is away, work independently and in collaboration with other social worker.
• Social services are provided to people of all ages, from intra-uterine through elderly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assisting clients in receiving services by telephone and in person.
• Getting clients involved in beneficial activities.
• Assessing clients and gathering relevant information.
• Offering information and supporting clients and their families.
• Contacting and making referrals to other agencies and services.
• Maintaining accurate records and preparing reports.
• Participating in training, supervision, and meetings.
• Watch for signs of child abuse.
• Provide crisis intervention.

Required Qualifications:

• One (1) year experience in hospital or health-care setting.
• State of Alaska license at Master’s level (LMSW) required or eligibility.
• Valid Alaska State driver’s license is required.
