Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to helping individuals overcome addiction and improve their overall well-being. This role involves providing support, guidance, and counseling to clients struggling with substance abuse issues, utilizing evidence-based practices and therapeutic techniques.

Duties

• Conduct patient assessments to evaluate individual needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
• Provide addiction counseling through individual and group sessions, fostering a supportive environment for recovery.
• Implement crisis intervention strategies to assist clients in acute distress or emergencies.
• Manage cases effectively, coordinating care with other healthcare professionals and community resources.
• Offer education on addiction medicine and coping strategies to clients and their families.
• Maintain accurate documentation of client progress, treatment plans, and coding for services rendered (ICD-9).
• Provide home community care when necessary, ensuring continuity of support for clients outside of the clinical setting.
• Address co-occurring disorders such as PTSD through specialized care approaches.

Experience
Candidates should possess the following skills and experience:

• Proven experience in patient assessment and addiction counseling.
• Familiarity with addiction medicine principles and crisis intervention techniques.
• Experience in case management within a healthcare or community setting.
• Knowledge of coding systems, particularly ICD-9, is preferred.
• Background in providing individual and group counseling sessions is essential.
• Previous experience in home community care is a plus.
