Job Title: Behavior Specialist: Board Certified Behavior Analyst







Reports to: Director of Student Services







Position Purpose : To provide behavioral support, staff training, and intervention planning for students with behavioral challenges across general and special education settings. The BCBA will ensure implementation fidelity of behavior intervention plans, supervise RBTs, and deliver professional development on behavior strategies.



Essential Performance Responsibilities



Student Support

+ Conduct and support FBAs and develop BIPs for both general and special education students

+ Collaborate with school teams and AEA staff to ensure BIP implementation with fidelity

+ Provide intensive support for students with unsafe or high-intensity behaviors, including highly individualized plans, staff training, and emergency protocols

+ Analyze behavioral data to monitor progress and adjust interventions accordingly

+ Participate in Student Support Team (SST) and IEP meetings

+ Provide direct ABA support, including functional analyses





Staff Coaching and Professional Development

+ Provide coaching and classroom-based support to teachers and paraeducators on behavior strategies and management techniques

+ Train staff on topics such as: functions of behavior, applied behavior analysis strategies, de-escalation strategies, classroom behavior management

+ Deliver district-wide professional development aligned with a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS): universal: foundational behavior strategies, targeted: interventions for specific behavior concerns, intensive support for extreme disruptions





Collaboration

+ Collaborate with AEA social workers and psychologists on FBAs and BIPs

+ Build and maintain positive working relationships with all school staff and support agencies





Supervision & Oversight

+ Supervise and mentor RBTs/BTs

+ Provide Medicaid billing signatures when applicable









Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

+ Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills across educational teams

+ Ability to think creatively and flexibly to support student behavior needs

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills

+ Proficiency in behavior data analysis and ABA principles

+ Capable of training and coaching diverse audiences





Qualifications

+ Master’s degree in Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Education, or related field

+ Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) credential (or in final stages of certification)

+ Minimum of 2 years experience working in schools or with students with disabilities preferred









Physical Requirements



Physical requirements vary by individual job assignment but require a minimum of the following physical requirements: walking, standing, bending, carrying, climbing, lifting minimum of 20 pounds, driving, pushing, pulling, reaching, sitting, and stooping.







Working Conditions



Work performed across school settings with varied physical and behavioral needs.







Terms of Employment



Approximately 210-day work year (10-month position), 40 hours/week.



Salary range: $65,000 - $70,000



Subject to board policy and applicable laws and regulations



Evaluation



Performance will be evaluated annually by the Director of Student Services, or in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of staff
