About Job

We are currently accepting applications for a full-time permanent Psychologist position at Central Ohio Behavioral Healthcare, located at 2200 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43223.

What you’ll do at OhioMHAS:

  • Develop &/or coordinate psychological services on assigned patient unit(s) at Central Ohio Behavioral Healthcare (COBH) including the Timothy B. Moritz Forensic Unit (TBMFU). This includes both clinical and forensic services and may include individual/group therapy, competency restoration services, forensic screenings, assessments and evaluations, and risk assessments.
  • Develop & perform psychological & forensic assessments & evaluations.
  • Consult with unit professionals (e.g., psychiatrist, nurse, social workers, activities therapist, Chaplain, Volunteer Services Coordinator, Unit Director) regarding unit patients and milieu issues.
  • Document activities & complete forms in compliance with certifying/accrediting professional agencies (e.g., Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JC), Medicare, Ohio Psychological Association (OPA) requirements).
  • Provide work/clinical direction to lower-level psychologists, psychology assistants, SAMI staff & students or post-doctoral fellows.
  • Respond to emergency situations.
  • Attend &/or participate in seminars, conferences, workshops, &/or meetings as needed to maintain working knowledge of psychology and to maintain an active psychology license in Ohio, makes presentations to other Psychology Departments and hospital staff at in-service training sessions; attend departmental administrative staff meetings.
  • Additional activities may include testimony, participation on the Hospital Staff Response Team, committee assignments, taking part in Trauma Informed Care activities, presentations/case conferences/workshops and special projects.

COBH is unique in that it provides the opportunity to work with a variety of populations: forensic, long-term SMI individuals, and acute civil patients, many of whom have complex circumstances. We have the only maximum-security psychiatric facility in the state. Our treatment teams are cohesive, dynamic and compassionate. Our Psychology department is a highly trained group of professionals who value collaboration and learning about new ways of serving our patients. This is an hourly position covered by the Ohio Health Care SEIU/1199 bargaining unit (union), with a pay range of # 15 on the Ohio Health Care SEIU/1199 Pay Range Schedule. We are also currently offering a 15% supplement for Psychologists! Normal working hours are Monday - Friday, mostly daytime hours with an occasional evening. This position is located within Central Ohio Behavioral Healthcare at 2200 West Broad Street Columbus, Ohio 43223.

Unless required by any applicable union contract and/or requirements of the Ohio Revised Code, the selected candidate will begin at Step 1 of the pay range schedule listed above, with an opportunity for pay increase after six months of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.

Qualifications

License to practice psychology as issued by Ohio State Board of Psychology per Section 4732.12 or 4732.15 (A) of Ohio Revised Code.
