Salary: $32,000 - 34,000 annually

Organizational Relationship

or Line of Authority: Works under the supervision of the Director of Special Education and the District BCBA to implement ABA teaching methodology and the Building Principal for day-to-day operations.

Summary: ABA Technicians are support personnel responsible for implementing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) methodology and curriculum under the guidance of the school district’s BCBA. ABA Technicians/RBTs use ABA teaching to teach academic, communication, and social skills, including implementing plans to reduce problem behaviors. Under the guidance of the BCBA, they provide ABA interventions that encourage socially acceptable replacement behaviors so students can build and improve their communication, social interactions, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

Provide direct support to students in the classroom, supported by the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) through discrete trial teaching and incidental teaching.

Implement ABA curriculum to increase student skills across a variety of domains.

Assist BCBA’s as directed with implementing behavior support plans and skill acquisition plans.

Collect data on academic, communication, and social skills as well as problem behaviors identified in the Behavior Support Plan (BSP).

Provide and maintain a safe and supportive environment for all students, utilizing Safety Care techniques as needed.


Measurement
: Collect and record data while implementing ABA instruction.

Assessment: Describe and record students’ behaviors in measurable terms. RBTs may also assist BCBAs with assessment procedures, which vary depending on each student's behavioral needs.

Skill Acquisition: With your supervisors, create a skill acquisition plan for the student and implement procedures to encourage the student’s acquisition of the desired skill.

Behavior Reduction: With your supervisors, implement interventions and differential reinforcement procedures. Implement behavior support plans when appropriate. Documentation and Reporting: Record session notes while complying with all applicable legal, regulatory, and workplace requirements. This report will involve other variables, such as illness and medication notes, and other objective observations.

Professional Conduct and Scope of Practice: Maintain clear lines of communication and professional boundaries, and implement supervisors’ feedback to improve your professional performance.

Experience/Training:

High School Diploma

An associate's or bachelor's Degree is preferred.

Must have at least 1-3 years of experience working with children in the field of ABA.

Completion of the 40-hour RBT training program is preferred.

Completion of the RBT Competency Assessment is preferred.

RBT credential with the BACB preferred.
