Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and implement lesson materials in accordance with district resources and alignment with State standards and school's philosophy and objectives.
- Employ a variety of instructional methods/techniques and materials to differentiate learning activities for all students.
- Promote and maintain appropriate student behavior.
- Participate on committees to develop and improve instruction and/or other building level goals/initiatives.
- Actively pursue continual professional growth and commit to the vision of making the school a place of excellence.
- Maintain accurate and complete records involving student information required by law, District policy, and administrative direction.
- Provide direct counseling support to students through pull out and push in services.
- Consult with teachers, administrators, and parents regarding difficulties with social, emotional, and behavioral concerns.
- Review brief and complex functional behavior assessment processes (FBA) as needed.
- Interpret student data in the areas of social/emotional/behavioral.
- Assist with paraprofessionals to meet the needs of students throughout the building.
- Participate in, assist with, and/or manage student 504 evaluations and plans.
- Participate in the evaluation process for Individual Education Plans.
- Help develop Individual Education Plans when Social/Emotional Functioning has been identified.
- Provide social skills training to students.
- Provide therapeutic intervention/counseling for students with social/emotional/behavioral needs.
- Coordinate and facilitate professional development opportunities for the school community during the school year and summer programming based on need.
- Resource and refer with community-based agencies.
- Provide regular, scheduled support to the Structured Learning Program, Learning Opportunities Program, and Early Childhood programs based on school assignment.
- Engage in crisis management.
- Help guide the extended school year program in supporting the overall emotional, social, and behavioral needs of all students.
- Act as a mandated reporter.
- Demonstrate knowledge of IEP policy and procedures, and competence with IDEA rules/regulations.
- Serve as a problem-solving team member.
- Develop and implement Tier 1 activities to support literacy development.
- Provide direct instruction and/or consultation with assistive technology devices.
- Conduct co-treatment with other related services providers whenever appropriate.
- Collaborate for the integration of Speech/Language services into the general education curriculum.
- Maintain documentation and detailed data for students served.
- Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and administration.
- Work collaboratively with grade level team and school teams.
- Demonstrate strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills with colleagues, parents, and administration.
- Commit to continuous professional growth.
- Professional Educator License (PEL).
- School Social Worker endorsement.
- Knowledge of current educational and instructional methodologies and techniques.
- Knowledge of theories and practices of child development.
