Point Loma Nazarene University, a faith-based institution affiliated with the Church of the Nazarene, invites applications for a tenure track School Counseling position at the assistant or associate rank beginning in the Fall of 2025. Qualified applicants should have a terminal degree in school counseling or a related field. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellent teaching at the graduate level in a Christian context, will display a strong potential for applied scholarship and service to the School of Education disciplines, and will embrace the mission of Point Loma Nazarene University. Teaching responsibilities will be across the curriculum in teacher education coursework and may include instructional methodology, action research, and other educationally related content. The School of Education is composed of 13 faculty members with a strong commitment to high quality teaching, service, and applied scholarship. There are approximately 1100 candidates working toward a credential or masters’ degree that are drawn to the School of Education for its commitment to educating students who are empowered, equipped, and transformed to work in 21st century educational settings. Responsibilities include providing administrative assistance to the program director for all school counseling programs, recruitment and enrollment efforts, course development, curricular alignment, teaching graduate courses in school counseling, academic advising and supervision, participation in program and institutional activities and governance, serving on faculty committees, conducting scholarly research, engaging in off-campus community service, and providing at least two days per week of in-person support to staff and candidates. Qualifications include a doctoral degree in Counseling, a current PPS credential and public school experience preferred, evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement, commitment to Christian graduate education, and support of the university's religious and educational goals. The job offer is contingent on successful completion of a background check.
