The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria seeks an academic psychiatrist with interests and enthusiasm for teaching residents and medical students. This full-time faculty position is at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Candidates for the position should share our commitment to high-quality patient care, scholarship, education, and community service.

Responsibilities include leading one of three interdisciplinary general psychiatry adult inpatient teaching units composed of residents, medical students, nursing, social work, and support staff. The faculty member will also supervise psychiatry residents in outpatient pharmacology clinics built around education and patient care. Other duties will be tailored to the interest of the applicant and include opportunities in ECT, TMS, community outreach, college student mental health, psychiatry integration in primary care clinics, and forensic psychiatry.

Educational responsibilities include clinical and classroom teaching of residents and medical students. Faculty members are granted protected time to pursue other interests including clinical or educational program development and research. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervision and teaching of general psychiatry residents and medical students
  • Function as a University faculty member, performing such duties as are appropriate to academic rank and position
  • Direct patient care
  • Involvement in meeting ACGME and LCME training guidelines, requirements, and policies


Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or DO graduate of an LCME/AACOM-accredited medical school
  • Licensed or license-eligible in the state of Illinois
  • ABPN board-certified or board-eligible in adult psychiatry


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in inpatient and outpatient psychiatry
  • Experience in integrative, collaborative, or consultation medicine
