Practicum Coordinator Department Academic Affairs: Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology Position Summary The Full-Time Faculty, Clinical Psychology, and Psy.D. Practicum Coordinator is a 12-month, full-time, campus-based faculty appointment with administrative responsibilities in the Psy.D. Program in Clinical Psychology. As a core faculty member of the Psy.D. program, the primary responsibilities include teaching, student advising and mentoring, service to the department and university, and continued scholarship in the field as defined in the Stevenson University policies and the Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology Full-Time Faculty Job Description. Teaching responsibilities include 18 contact hours per academic year, including practicum courses. Practicum Coordinator responsibilities include coordination with the program's Director of Clinical Training to provide oversight and administrative management of various aspects of practicum/externship placements for Psy.D. students. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, service on dissertation committees; program assessment activities; student recruitment, retention, and placement efforts, with potential involvement in off-campus, evening, or weekend duties/activities; and participating in the life of the university.Education/Experience Doctoral degree from an APA-accredited program in a health service psychology area (i.e., clinical, counseling, or school) required with graduate teaching experience in psychology and experience in clinical practice preferred. Teaching, clinical, and research specialty areas are open; clinical and teaching competencies in the areas of psychological assessment and working with children and adolescents are preferred. Must hold an active psychology license (or be license-eligible) in Maryland.Knowledge/Skills/Ability Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the teaching of psychology at the graduate level.Demonstrated expertise in clinical practice and supervision.Commitment to advising, mentoring and guiding students and supervising student scholarly activity, including doctoral dissertation research.Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds and with various learning styles.Experience with data-driven program evaluation and educational assessment preferred.Knowledge of state and national training and licensure requirements and APA/APPIC standards in teaching and supervising doctoral students preferred.Excellent interpersonal and cultural competency skills and demonstrated ability to communicate professionally with diverse constituencies.Ability to work effectively with colleagues in the department and the University.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with students, peers, and professional contacts.Commitment to integrity, excellence, learning, and community.Commitment to professional development.Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.Proficiency in SPSS.Excellent technology and organizational skills and experience working with Blackboard or a similar to travel between campuses.Ability to work evenings and weekends. Position requires sitting and standing for extended periods of time and the ability to speak clearly and effectively for an extended period of time.Essential Functions Faculty Responsibilities:Instructional ActivityEngage in instructional activity totaling 18 contact hours per academic year in face-to-face courses, including but not limited to practicum-related courses.As part of Instructional Activity load:Maintain and improve competence in subjects taught;Prepare courses and teaching materials (including syllabi) in accordance with published faculty workload guidelines;Grade all student work in a timely manner;Hold office hours (minimum of 3 hours per week);Meet with students as related to instructional activity.Evaluate, update, and revise courses regularly.Participate in the development, administration, and grading of comprehensive student dissertation research and other scholarly activities.Participate in the assessment activities of the Department, School, and University.Scholarly ActivityMaintain independent pursuits-including scholarly or applied projects-to enhance teaching effectiveness.Attend professional conferences, workshops, or meetings to maintain currency in an area of academic interest.Maintain scholarly activities that contribute to the profession through publications or external funding to support scholarly or programmatic activities as ActivityAttend all faculty, staff, University, and Psy.D. Program meetings, including contractually mandated recruitment activities.Review application materials for and interview prospective students.Attend all convocations, including commencement exercises.Serve on Psy.D. Program and/or University committees.Participate in Psy.D. Program events.Participate in professional peer review and ongoing departmental activities, such as curriculum assessment and accreditation-related activities.Perform professional service to the community, including psychology practice and other uses of academic and professional expertise to serve the profession of psychology and the University.Administrative Responsibilities:Practicum Support ActivityDevelop and maintain relationships with and maintain records on a variety of field sites.Conduct practicum/externship site visits.Manage practicum evaluation processes.Work with students and sites to support high quality clinical training and resolve issues that impede training.Maintain records and data related to training outcomes for internal and external reporting purposes.Develop and maintain updated knowledge of state and national training and licensure requirements and APA/APPIC training standards.
