The Clinical Director operates with oversight and guidance from the regional leadership team and Chief Clinical Officer to provide overall leadership, quality assurance, and managerial support for their assigned clinic site. This position assists with the oversight of the day-to-day operations of the assigned clinic site by assuring consistent execution of established policies and procedures in compliance with company standards and funding source requirements while ensuring quality-based services are delivered.

The Clinical Director is responsible for the quality of all client programs and is jointly responsible for the growth of the clinic. This position works collaboratively with the on-site Office Manager to manage the intake/onboarding of new staff members and new clients, while ensuring all clients receive the highest quality treatment in a timely and ethical manner.

In addition, the Clinical Director will provide applied behavior analysis consultation and evaluation to clients and act as clinical leadership for BTs/RBTs/BCBAs in cooperation with their regional leadership team and the Chief Clinical Officer. This position contributes to establishing and maintaining the overall growth, culture, and performance of all clinical employees within the clinic. They will also be responsible for preparing and maintaining records and reports pertaining to client evaluations and treatment plans.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Use available resources to select the appropriate assessment for learner and complete all required components for the client’s funding source in time for proper review.
  • Administer assessments including but not limited to VB-MAPP, ABLLS-R, Essential for Living, Functional Assessments, and Functional Analysis
  • Develop reports, i.e., behavior identification assessments, treatment plans, behavior supports plans, and discharge summaries.
  • Provide supervision and caregiver support to clients and caregivers as needed/assigned
Utilize behavioral skills training to teach direct care staff the skills needed for the client’s program. Monitor progress regularly via visual analysis and make program changes when indicated.
  • Train and supervise behavior technicians in the implementation of ABA procedures and interventions
  • Develop individualized programming based on the needs of the client as well as the caregiver
  • Demonstrate how new and/or challenging programs should be implemented
  • Provide staff with feedback regarding data collection to ensure staff accuracy in recording
  • Evaluate and graph data for program analysis and progress weekly, at a minimum
  • Collect data as needed including interobserver agreement (IOA)
  • Complete teaching procedure changes needed to maximize client progress
  • Provide training to clients and caregivers on behavior analytic concepts and procedures. Training will be individualized based on caregiver and/or staff priorities and needs.
  • Coordinate with other professionals to provide collaborative treatment
  • Follow company policies and requirements set forth by the BACB.
  • Ensure adequate monthly supervision is provided to clients and RBTs/BTs based on clinical recommendations
  • Ensure all RBTs and BCaBAs providing services are meeting supervision requirements based on the BACB requirements
  • Meet billable hours productivity requirement as assigned by supervisor
  • Complete RBT initial and renewal competencies as needed
  • Utilize Central Reach for learning trees, clinical documentation, and data collection
  • Utilize HIPAA compliant company drive on company-issued device for all client information
  • Complete RBT/BT performance evaluations
  • Maintain communication with clinical and administrative staff via email, internal communication platforms and systems, and/or video/audio conferences
  • Maintain communication with caregivers regarding client progress and plan of care
  • Monitor all client authorizations and client report submissions to ensure timely report filing and prevent lapses in authorized care
  • Monitor RBT session notes to ensure that BCBAs are co-signing within the prescribed time window
  • Complete session notes, timesheets, and administrative tasks including conversion of billing appointments per company protocols and submit within the designated time frame
  • Assist CBO and/or RCC as needed during annual audits or BHCOE reaccreditations
  • Organize and/or attend team meetings and on-going trainings, as needed
  • Remain current and increase knowledge of best practices and advances in the field of ABA

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Effective Clinical Directors ensure clinical quality by providing training opportunities and hands-on assistance to clinic staff
  • Collaborate with Office Manager to assist in the interview and hiring process of new clinical staff
  • Collaborate with Office Manager as needed to assist in management of intake/onboarding of new client assignments
  • Train new BCBAs and complete hands-on competencies per training plan provided by the Training Department
  • Provide monthly supervision to BCaBAs per BACB guidelines, if applicable
  • Provide monthly supervision and consultation to BCBAs certified for less than one year
  • Provide supervision and mentorship to fieldwork candidates
  • Complete BCBA and BCaBA performance evaluations per policy
  • Provide clinical support to BCBAs, BCaBAs, and RBTs as needed, including monthly meetings in order to provide opportunities for collaboration/case review
  • Provide oversight and guidance to BCBAs related to caseload management and RBT assignments
  • Review clinical documentation of BCBAs to ensure quality standards are met and client is progressing towards their individualized goal selections
  • Identify clinical training needs of RBT, BCaBA and BCBA staff and either conduct training or direct staff to existing training resources
  • Identify high performing fieldwork candidates for potential promotion and gauge interest in remaining with the company, as applicable
  • Participate in community building events as needed and/or assigned
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested

Education & Experience Requirements:
  • Master’s Degree or higher in ABA, Psychology, Education, or related field
  • Certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in good standing with the BACB
  • At least three (3) years of related professional experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) in a multi-disciplinary team setting as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, preferred
  • Expert knowledge of scientifically-validated methodologies and approaches found to benefit individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, including familiarity with current related research findings
  • Knowledge of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) practices and of the BACB Ethical Code, with strict adherence to these policies
  • Valid CPR certification and other medical training requirements as specified by payors (or ability to obtain)

Additional Job Requirements:
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals and/or governmental regulations
  • Ability to read and write detail-oriented session notes, behavior plans, and treatment reports
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisory and other staff members, caregivers, and others
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Ability to think and act quickly and calmly in an emergency and make independent decisions
  • Ability to move freely, quickly, and frequently from a seated position (on the floor or in a chair) to a standing position
  • Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and spend time on your feet as well as the ability to lift items up to 50 lbs. on occasion
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
